Everton opens the preseason campaign today (in a bit over 4 hours actually) against Bury at Gigg Lane.
Sheffield United has reportedly accepted an as yet undisclosed fee (rumored to be in the area of £5 million) from Everton for 20-year old full back Kyle Naughton. Naughton has made 11 appearances for the Blades and earned his first England U-21 call-up in November. Once personal terms are worked out, Naughton will join the growing collection of talented young players at Goodison.
"We have accepted a bid for Kyle, that's correct," said the club's international chairman, Terry Robinson. "The two clubs have been negotiating this last week and we have agreed terms with Everton, but nothing has been agreed with the player. We won't be revealing the amount until any deal is done and our acceptance is conditional on Kyle reaching agreement with them over personal terms. It's a good deal for the player and Sheffield United. We wouldn't have agreed to it if it wasn't a good deal for the club."
Another awesome potential signing in my book. The young talent Moyes is assembling is going to create an fantastic foundation for years to come and it's tough not to be really excited as an Evertonian.
Blue Kipper is reporting the following juicy rumor:
If our spies eye sight is not as bad as we think (the guy in the chippy on Goodison Road), Siteehhhs Micah Richards has today been spotted at Goodison Park. Now if true, this could lead to all kind of money transactions between Everton and the Blue Mooners involving Jo, Roger and Micah all heading off in different directions.
Nothing concrete yet, but it's certainly interesting to consider. If Lescott wants to go, getting back Jo on loan (with a reasonable purchase clause) and Micah Richards could certainly heal the pain of losing a player I really like.
Sky Sports is reporting that Sparta Rotterdam defender Dele Adeleye has claimed Everton have made a 'serious bid' for his services. Adeleye is a Nigerian and Everton's strong contingent of Nigerian players makes this a reasonable possibility.
Everton has been connected to Villa's Nigel Reo-Coker...hard to say if the two clubs can find a common ground on the player's valuation.
